Revisiting Knowledge Communities
during the Fifteenth, Sixteenth, and Seventeenth Centuries
WELCOME!
The Respublica litteraria (ca. 1417) is one of the names that humanists used to refer to the premodern learned and literary world across borders. This public sphere was not the preserve of men. Since 2009, I have been advocating the need to include women's contributions in its study from an interdisciplinary, comparative stance -- namely, by taking deep dives into the Respublica litteraria's shared values and practices.
This website shares my work freely, hoping to encourage others to adopt multidisciplinary approaches in their study and practice of cultural production. It is updated regularly, so, keep watching this space!
